'Captain America: Brave New World' Announces Europe Marvel Press Tour

This article is a breakdown of Disney’s European press tour for Captain America: Brave New World.
With Captain America: Brave New World set to hit cinemas in just over two weeks, Disney has published their plans for a press tour of the latest Marvel instalment, with the film making an early start for its promotional run, with several fan events planned to garner social media attention to hype up the next MCU movie.
Kicking off the week, the Anthony Mackie led feature takes to Rome on Monday the 27th of January, as the day begins with a bang: an inaugural photocall is set to commence the film’s release campaign, with the cast making an appearance in the heart of Rome, garnering the attention of European press and audiences.
Following this, the cast and director will then make their way for a special ‘first look’ preview screening of the film, a similar promotional tactic employed by Marvel Studios since Avengers: Infinity War. Recently, Marvel Studios hosted similar preview screenings of the recently released Deadpool & Wolverine across the world; this film debuted to rave reviews from critics and audiences, reaching critic and audience scores of 78% and 94% respectively, on review aggregate site ‘Rotten Tomatoes’, and earned over $1.3 billion at the box office; clearly, that was a promotional success that Disney would like to replicate.

Similarly to the preview screenings of Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool & Wolverine, this first-look screening will not screen the entire film, but likely just the opening 30-40 minutes of the film. Marvel Studios have shown their hand with this move, clearly confident that the first act is strong enough to leave a lasting impression on audiences to take to social media eager to see the rest of the film, but wish to protect several plot points that may have ramifications on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel have always made efforts to prevent spoilers from leaking, so there are potentially game-changing reveals to come. The screening will then be followed by a Q&A, potentially answering questions many fans have been eager to hear asked. Expect audience questions, if any, to be limited.
Following Rome, the cast will then depart for Madrid, where similar proceedings will take place. On Tuesday, January 28th, the day kicks off with a press conference surprisingly, a rare feat for Marvel releases these days. Again, this shows confidence on Marvel’s part to invite press from all over the continent to attend and potentially ask questions at a live press conference. That is not all, as similar to the day prior, another photocall and stunt event will then take place; Marvel is really looking to leave a lasting impression on audiences in these final weeks before the film’s release, with several viral stunt events and cast appearances booked.

A day’s rest and travelling follow, as the cast won’t be seen till Thursday, January 30th, where the cast touch down in central London for a photocall, which tend to be closed circuit events for photographers and influencers. Later in the day, the cast and director will sit down for a moderated Q&A with UK and European influencers in attendance as the audience; this was the same strategy employed for Deadpool & Wolverine‘s UK release – Marvel seem to have found a standard marketing campaign they’re comfortable with – we’ll have to see if it pays off twice.
As usual, Disney and Marvel’s UK campaigns are always influencer-centric and less so press-wise, so expect to find most of the Q&A’s content to be posted on TikTok in the days following. It won’t be streamed, though one or two YouTube channels may end up posting the full presser.
While early photocalls taking place tend to indicate the regions won’t be visited again for red carpet premieres (Marvel has shied away from hosting these in the UK in recent years), there will be a Special Screening taking place on February 12th in London’s Leicester Square. While the cast likely won’t be in attendance, expect several TikTokers and a few reality stars to make an appearance.
